Philadelphia Yearly Meeting was the direct successor of the Burlington Yearly meeting, established in 1681.

Initially established by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in 1693, the quarter had grown very large by 1758 and was split into two quarterly meetings, Chester and Western. In 1800, the quarterly adopted the name of Concord Quarterly Meeting.
